Graham Norton Back On BBC America

I was excited to hear that Graham Norton's new show, The Graham Norton Show, will be playing on BBC America starting June 2nd, 2007. I really liked his old stuff when they played it a few years ago. I saw him when he made a week long appearance in Hollywood for his V Graham Norton (UK) series back in 2003. The guest that episode was Shirley MacLaine.

John Edwards at Google 5/30/07

Democratic Presidential candidate John Edwards stopped by the Googleplex in Mountain View, CA on Wednesday 5/30/07. He followed previous visits from presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and John McCain. Now I want Barack Obama to come.

Fun Week Ahead

So the next week or so will be great. I'm looking forward to a few things in particular:
  • Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards stops by the headquarters of Google in Mountain View, CA today.
  • The grand opening of Hunters Nightclub in San Jose on Friday.
  • Driving to Los Angeles on Saturday morning. Just a random weekend visit. You can probably catch me roaming WeHo at night.
  • Possibly meeting up with my old US Chamber of Commerce boss, Brent, in San Diego this weekend. I haven't seen him in about a year.
  • Working from the Santa Monica Google Office on Monday 6/4/07 so I don't have to use a vacation day. I love this office!
  • Going to the Spanish Art Gallery at the Mission Inn in Riverside, CA for the annual UCR Highland Banquet on Monday 6/4/07.
  • The John Mayer Concert at the HP Pavilion in San Jose on Tuesday 6/5/07. Ben Folds 5 is the opener. Yay!

Memorial Day Weekend 2007

FRIDAY
  • Kinda last minute decision to go to Gay Day at Paramount's Great America in Santa Clara, CA. Bill texted me at 7am and asked me if I wanted to go. I'm glad I did!
  • I ran into a TON of people at PGA. First off, a ton of Googlers and other friends. Evan, Doug, Brian, Heather, etc.
  • Second... someone from HIGH SCHOOL! Ah. It was a bit weird considering I didn't go to high school in this area. So, as it turns out, Kyle, who looks totally different then what I remembered came up to me. He was like 'Is your name William?' I was a bit confused. No one ever calls me by my formal name. He's like, 'We went to High School together.' He proceeded to whip out his Drivers License. I remember his name and he totally didn't look the same because he lost a lot of weight. Which is why I'm surprised he recognized me too because I don't really look the same either. He's like 'I never forget faces.' As it turns out he lives in Cupertino and works in Santa Clara. So we'll probably get coffee or something one of these days.

Doug, Bill, Me & Stavros
Notice the Hair Color goes from Lighter to Darker when you look left to right. Haha... random.

SATURDAY
  • Went to San Francisco and explored the city randomly. Shopped and got some grub at SF Centre.
  • Proceeded to drive randomly around the city. I saw one of my former co-workers on the street while in my car. I waived at Evan M. when he was on some random street in the Marina. He waived back. Haha.
  • Chilled at Peet's Coffee on Market St. in the Castro. I got some tea and read some magazines. It was so nice to just relax and people watch.
  • Met up with Simon for some dinner at Fuzio's on Castro. We then grabbed a couple of drinks at The Mix. I've been to the Mix and Fuzio's once before. I like both places a lot. The Mix was just a great place to get a drink and have a convo. The music isn't too loud and people are just super friendly.
  • I ran into some co-workers, Ben & Marl, while walking back to my car after getting drinks at the Mix. I guess Ben lives nearby... probably in the Mission.
SUNDAY
  • I trekked back to San Francisco. Ya... that's super rare. I actually wanted to shop and buy some new clothes in Union Square. I ended up buying stuff at Macy's Men, H&M and Armani Exchange. I wanted to get stuff at Express but they didn't really have anything good. I was happy to see Ben Sherman will be opening a store in Union Square that should be opening soon. It was Friends and Family weekend at H&M so I ended up saving 25%... yay!
  • I ran into my old co-worker Melissa on the street while walking to my car. That was such a great surprise. Turns out she was calling my name for several seconds, but I was listening to my iPod really loudly. I took her back to her place instead of her having to take the bus. It gave us a good amount of time to get a nice convo in.
  • Met up with Bill to hit some clubs at night. We though about going to Fresh @ Ruby Skye, but I'm not a fan of circuit stuff or the druggie scene. We decided to instead try someplace neither of us had been to. We went to Ntouch, off Polk Street. There wasn't a huge crowd, but It was Sunday. I really liked the music and the bartender was super cute. We stayed probably longer than we would have because we meet some nice folks named Shaun and Chia. We ended up going to the Castro around 12am. We hit up The BOC and Badlands. I saw Simeon, who I know from LA, outside Badlands. It's nice to see familiar faces. We left Badlands around 2am and stayed outside for a while to mingle. I then took everyone home. It was a fun night!

Weight Loss Update

Last week I was 3 pounds away from my initial weight loss goal. I lived 22 years being huge and couldn't take it anymore.

Quite honestly, I don't believe I've came this far. There were several experiences that inspired me and/or made me think about life differently:
  • Jack's Mom whispering in my ear about her wanting to see me lose weight.
  • Not being able to ride something at the Santa Cruz Boardwalk in 2006 with Danny.
  • Josh T. starting to go to the gym and drop the pounds. He inspired my initial start.
Although these are the three main things, Nai has kept by my side and pushed me hard. We've been through a lot together and I would not have had another human on this earth help me through this other than him.

So I'm here to officially announce numbers. I started working out around July 2006. It's been about 11 or so months since I first started on my weight loss track. Here goes it...

Initial Weight | ~300 lbs.

Initial Weight Loss Goal | 100 lbs.

Initial Target Weight | 200 lbs

Weight Today | 198 lbs

My Next Goal | 180 lbs

So, I've met my target weight in less than a year... the hard way. No pills, no surgery. Purely discipline, exercise and eating better.

Quite honestly, I hit a rut around 210 lbs. It took me a long time to get from 210 to 200. But here's to the future. Wish Me Luck!

Shrek 3

I went with some Googlers to the AMC Mercado in Santa Clara to watch Shrek 3.

I thought it was okay. No plot to really speak of. A lot of it was farce, but not as funny or creative. I did think Justin Timberlake did a good job.

I honestly think the best thing about the experience was the preview for Hairspray.

Overall: C

The Togos Experience

After working out with Nai on Saturday, I went to Togos for a late lunch. I had an interesting encounter with the fiesty latina girl behind the counter.

Togos Girl: You look like the guy from the Real World.
Me: Real World Denver? Who on it?
Togos Girl: Don't be offended... the gay one.
Me: Davis?
Togos Girl: Ya. I'm sorry. I mean, he has blond hair, but you guys look the same.
Me: Oh... That's a total compliment. Thanks. You made my day!

I know that's totally random. I mean, I got a comment earlier in the week that my face had definition. I don't think we look anything alike... but It still made my day. :P

I guess gay gays have facial definition. Haha.

Go Kart Racing!

Nai's GF came to the Bay Area to celebrate with him. Nai, Audrey & I hung out on Saturday Afternoon, although Nai's birthday is on Sunday.

We went to indoor racing course, Go Kart Racer, in Burlingame, CA. It's hardcore go karts, not your 'Malibu Grand Prix.' You need jump suits, neck protectors, and training videos. The competition is stressful, entertaining, and surprisingly a good upper body workout.

I went here once before for a team offsite. It's kinda pricey... like in the $50-$60 range. But it's fun and a different experience.

After Go Kart Racing, we went to the Cheesecake Factory for an early dinner.

H&M Comes to the South Bay; FuZ in Sunnyvale

Strolling at Santana Row

Last Friday was a random night. I ended up going to get dinner at Santana Row in San Jose. It's a nice place to just stroll and chill. It reminds me a lot of the Grove in Los Angeles. I ended up eating at Plutos, my favorite place to get Google-esque food without paying a high price. It's basically customizable salads and healthy sandwiches. Interestingly enough, the had better toppings than the one in downtown Palo Alto. Soy nuts... yummy!

When strolling around, I noticed massive amounts of posters for a new H&M! I'm so excited! I have a strange feeling this might be a female-only H&M. If it is, it will truly be a sad day. It's opening in the Fall. My biggest pet peeve is driving to San Francisco for 1 store. Because that's one of the few places that SF has that the South Bay doesn't.

But who knows... maybe I'll move to SF later this year? Ooooh.... the mystery.

Clubbing in Suburbia

I was going to go to my co-worker Jackie's bday party on Polk Street in San Francisco. I was going to carpool with Steph K., but she didn't feel up to it. I didn't want to drive alone, so I decided to stay in the South Bay. I totally forgot that it was FuZ (hosted by Downelink) on Friday in Downtown Sunnyvale at Abyss Nightclub. I still felt like dancing, but not driving.

So I drove a whopping 2 minutes to Downtown Sunnyvale. The cover sucks at $10-$15. But it's a club in suburbia with mostly 18-20 year olds... so it's to be expected. It was the third time I went. It does feel a bit like High School, but I do like the layout of the club and the music. I also like the 21+ area upstairs. Also, the dance performers they usually have are fun.

Funny enough, I ran into Ronald. I went on a few dates with him after I met him at Dragon in 2006 (at Club Eight in San Francisco). He's a good guy. I'm still interested in being friends, because he truly has a nice heart. I saw him again a few months ago. He had a lot of pluses, but he also had some minuses (smoking).

We took pictures, but they're on his camera. So... I don't I'll ever get them.

It Feels So Good

I just got 13 hours of sleep. 7pm to 8am. Woot!

Go Sleep!

Darren Hayes Does SF

Why is Darren Hayes' only Bay Area concert on the SAME DAY as Gwen Stefani's? Sigh.

I already have lawn tix to Gwen. But they were cheap... so it won't be a big deal if I didn't go. The good thing is that it's right next to work though... so no commute whereas Darren's show is in San Francisco and starts at 8pm.

It's like Rare vs. Money.
Choices Choices.

New Icon

I wanted to thank my fellow googler Kevin S. for my new icon. I'm using it for a bunch of things. He's so good at making these avatars! It's like my own little 8-bit NES character. Yipee!

Córdova Goes To Purdue

UCR Chancellor, France Córdova, has been selected as Purdue's first female president. I've been super impressed with what she's done in her time at UCR. Even though UCR's 7th Chancellor had a relatively short tenure, her accomplishments in branding, ranking, the Palm Desert Campus and the medical school were fantastic. I'm sorry to see her go!

Where's Will?

Sadly, I stand out because I'm so sweaty in this random picture found on GameBoi's Website. Can you find me?

Cinco De Mayo: From Being Productive To Being Attacked

Yesterday was productive and fun. The first half of the day involved working out, doing laundry, and getting my hair cut. I also tried to catch up on some TV.

At night, I met up with Alex in the city. We haven't had a hang out session in a while now that he moved to SF. Earlier in the day, he went on some drunken Cinco De Mayo scavenger hunt that was intense. He was pretty tired, but he was still willing to grab dinner and go to a bar. I know how tired he was, so thanks!

I picked him up at his Pacific Heights apt, we drove to the Castro and got dinner at Fuzio: Universal Pasta. At first I was trying to figure out why the place looked familiar on the outside. It was because there was one near the UCDC center in Washington DC in Dupont Circle. (Although I hear it's closed now) It's a tiny chain, with fewer than 10 locations. I ended up getting the Classic Chicken Parmesan and a Blackberry Cosmo. The food was cheap and good. Although the drink was nearly as costly as my entree. It was a nice twist on a Cosmo though. I liked how the entree came with a bit of pasta and some spinach. Nice touch.

After Dinner, Alex and I went to the Cafe. The people who go are kinda sketch. The music was okay. I mean we've been before, but Alex didn't want to go to Badlands because he was tired. I think we should have went to The Bar instead. While there, there was the Jose Cuervo promoter who gave Alex and I sweatbands. He also gave me a free shot of something. I think it was something peach flavored with Cuervo. Not bad. After the Cafe, Alex decided to leave at midnight because he was uber tired.

I decided to stay a bit longer and head to Badlands. I haven't been in a while. The line was super long, but It didn't take all that long to get in. The music was really good. I had a pretty good time just releasing energy. Interestingly enough, I ran into JESSE from WORKOUT on Bravo. I saw him last Thursday in LA at the Abbey. It felt like a bit of LA right in San Francisco.

The weird moment of the night
: A guy at Badlands attacked me from behind during 'I Will Always Love You' by Whitney Houston. He would not let go of me. I tried escaping several times. I decided to just dance with him and bounce right after the song. He slow danced like in High School... putting his head on my shoulders. He tried to get fresh with me and I totally wasn't having it. That was my cue to leave Badlands. Haha.
